Martin Maltz received his PhD in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in solid state physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1968 and his BSEE from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1962.  He has worked at Xerox Research since 1968, initially on marking and display technologies.  He took some of this work to Canada in 1974 as one of the founding scientists of the Xerox Research Center of Canada.  Upon returning to the USA in 1978, he initially worked on understanding the relationship between xerographic physics and image quality.  Since 1990 he has been involved in the development of various color management technologies.  These technologies have been used in many Xerox color products to achieve benchmark color quality.  The tools and insights have also had many other uses, including security printing.  He enjoys developing problem solving algorithms, and architecting and coding software implementations.  He holds 33 US patents, and has a total of over 50 publications.
